Vol.2

After the final match of the day, a ritual called yumitori-shiki is performed by a maku-shita rikishi.
In this ritual he receives a bow from the gyoji (the main judge) and performs a dance.
The matches for the day are closed with this ritual.

The way he spun the bow in his hand was awesome and I was unconsciously gazing at it.

"The yumitori-shiki"
He brandishes the unstringed bow in a certain manner and performs a dance.
It was quite cool.

"He was actually quite handsome"
The ritual might be a good chance for the
maku-shita rikishi to have their faces
remembered by the fans.

As soon as the yumitori-shiki was over, a sheet covered the dohyo and the audience started to leave the arena.
“Now’s the time!” I thought and as I elbowed my way back through the crowd I succeeded in getting close to the dohyo.
The dohyo seen from so close was much bigger than I thought and I felt the bigness of the rikishi.

I could also make a close observation of the huge roof of the dohyo hanging from the ceiling.

"The audience leaving the arena"
They were people sitting in the tamari-seki which is also called suna-kaburi (sand seat) for the seats are so close to the dohyo that they get the sand of the dohyo at aggressive matches.
These people really looked like
professional fans of sumo.

"The dohyo covered right after the match"
But it is a respectable ritual for the sacred dohyo.
